Way of the Hunter 2 Update 1.1 Patch Notes: What Is Fixed and What Is Not

Update 1.1 (version 1.1.212672) is the first patch Way of the Hunter 2 shipped after launch: the developer published it on 30 September 2026 and Steam carried the announcement on 1 October 2026. It is a small one — twelve bullet points, eight of them fixes — and it adds three things, the useful one being a long-term weather forecast you set yourself. What it does not do is close the backlog: the developer's known-issues page, now headed "Version 1.1", still lists 24 open entries.

Everything below was checked against Nine Rocks Games' own pages and Steam's news feed on 2026-10-03, when the live build was 1.1.212672.

Version numbers and where the notes actually live

Build Version Date Published in
Update 1.0 (launch) 212045 29 Sep 2026 Steam launch post "Take the Shot" + the official known-issues page
Update 1.1 1.1.212672 30 Sep 2026 on the dev blog, 1 Oct 2026 on Steam "Update 1.1: Our First Post-Launch Patch"

SteamDB's patch-notes page for 1.1 would not load from here on 2026-10-03, on a direct request or through the local proxy, so every line below comes from the developer or from Steam's own news API rather than from a mirror.

Start here for the full 1.1 list

The 48-hour delay is the feature, not a footnote

The long-term weather forecast is the only real addition in 1.1, and the number buried in parentheses is the part that catches people out: a change takes effect after 48 in-game hours. Set it and walk straight into a hunt and you get the sky you did not ask for.

Three details around it:

  • The forecast is set per hunting ground, so you pick conditions separately in each reserve. Both maps are covered, and the per-map breakdown is on the maps and reserves guide.
  • Snow-chance settings are deliberately kept separate from animal aging, so pushing the weather forward will not age your animals.
  • 1.0 already did part of this work: it added new weather options and fixed the forecast not refreshing after you slept. 1.1 is what gives you the manual control.

Making that wait productive is its own skill, and hunting tips for tracking, calls and weather covers what to do with the hours in between.

Controller changes are the most immediately felt part

For pad players this patch is mostly about not fighting the camera:

Setting In 1.0 In 1.1
Default Inner Look Deadzone Lower default, drift-prone Raised to 12, raise further if drift persists
Inverted Horizontal / Vertical Look No such setting Two new settings
Menu navigation D-pad Left analog stick also works
Photo mode camera on controller Broken Fixed
Still drifting after the patch

Push the Inner Look Deadzone past 12 yourself. The patch notes explicitly tell players who still drift to increase the setting further rather than treat 12 as the fix.

One limit 1.1 does not touch: controller layouts still cannot be remapped, only keyboard and mouse bindings can. On a handheld that ceiling matters more than the deadzone value.

What launch 1.0 already fixed, and one bug people misdate

The 1.0 notes are worth scanning, because several complaints blamed on launch were closed a week earlier:

Complaint Fixed in Exact entry
Animals frozen, still staring at a threat after a non-fatal hit Update 0.5.0, 22 Sep 2026 "Animals freezing and continuing to stare at a threat after being shot non-fatally while alert"
Ammo slot locked out after emptying a type 1.0, 29 Sep 2026 "Ammo slot becoming unavailable after clearing an ammo type with 0 bullets left"
Female blue wildebeest clipping through vehicles 1.0 "Female Blue Wildebeest not colliding with the vehicle"
Client desync while the host browses Storage or Shop 1.0 "(MP) Client experiencing desync when the Host was navigating Storage or Shop"
Unable to die a second time after the first death 1.0 "Being unable to die after the first death"
Weather forecast stale after sleeping 1.0 "Weather forecast not updating correctly after sleeping"
Turkey tutorial soft-locks when switching ammo 1.0 "Ammo change-related soft locks during the Turkey portion of the Tutorial"
The frozen-animal bug is not a 1.0 or 1.1 fix

It shipped in Update 0.5.0 on the default branch on 2026-09-22, a week before launch. "Animals frozen" still turns up in searches and forum threads because the pinned Steam tech-support post uses it as its example of what counts as a bug report, not because the game still has it.

Ammo handling is the thread running through both patches; the full rules are on the ammo types and suppressor guide.

What is still broken after 1.1

The developer's known-issues page is the authority. As fetched on 2026-10-03 it is titled "Way of the Hunter 2: Known Issues (Version 1.1)" but still carries a 29 September 2026 date and an opening paragraph about "Version 1.0" — the heading was updated, the datestamp was not. It runs to 24 top-level entries: 8 under Multiplayer, 3 under Performance, 2 under Environment, 3 under Snow and 8 under Other. One of those eight is a heading for two ammo lines, so the page describes 26 individual problems in all. Here are the first twenty, in official order:

Category Still open Workaround
Multiplayer Animals hunted by a client can disappear on their own while the host is far away Close the distance to the host
Multiplayer Difficulty hitting animals consistently while they are in motion —
Multiplayer Temporary desync in certain situations Close distance or wait briefly
Multiplayer Doors and parking signs occasionally cannot be interacted with Reconnect to the session
Multiplayer Animal sounds may not be audible —
Multiplayer Joining via invite before finishing the tutorial locks the save Delete save files manually, then complete the tutorial first
Multiplayer (Xbox) Inventory can clear after fast-travel —
Multiplayer Crash caused by the host using a Buffden Apex Predator —
Performance (PC) The FSR antialiasing option may not take effect Set TSR first, then switch to FSR
Performance Frame drops in certain locations at sunset —
Performance (Xbox Series S) Crashes in memory-heavy situations such as a lodge full of dioramas —
Environment Leaves shaking on vegetation —
Environment Ground texture visibly switching around the player —
Snow Visual glitches with TSR or TAAU during snowfall —
Snow Fallen snow disappears in a small circle under your feet —
Snow Droppings and footprints invisible in fallen snow —
Other (PS5) Player stuck and unable to move after harvesting with a Primos stick —
Other (PS5) In Performance Mode the mountain renders see-through near Sasquatch Lake —
Other Buffden Apex Predator crossbow with a mounted scope has higher ADS mouse sensitivity while zoomed in —
Other Photo mode disables the ability to turn to the sides on a tripod stand —

A dash means the developer lists the bug with no workaround attached. The final four entries are the ones 1.1 claimed to fix. They get their own table below, where the two ammo readouts share one row, so twenty rows above plus four entries here makes the full twenty-four.

Way of the Hunter 2 cabin in a snowstorm, three separate snow bugs remain on the known issues list
Way of the Hunter 2 cabin in a snowstorm, three separate snow bugs remain on the known issues list

Those four fall into three rows, because in each group 1.1 patched one variant and left another:

1.1 said it fixed Still listed afterwards
Petting-the-dog animation with the Shooting stick The petting animation can still break if you or the dog are mid-action
Vehicle shaking for a client rejoining from inside a vehicle Vehicle damage to animals is still not fully consistent
Ammo stats wrong in Shop and Storage, four named calibers Missing Accuracy stat for slugs, bolts and arrows; .308 Winchester (Grande Swift) recoil listed too high, 12 Gauge (Rapid Buckshot) too low
The list behind those numbers

A walkthrough of the open bugs, including the leftover Demo config that wrecks resolution and UI scaling, is on known issues and how to report bugs.

Two links in the launch post shipped as placeholders

The launch announcement closes with what reads like instructions for finding the patch notes and the known-issues list. Both are literal placeholder text, unrendered:

"You can also check out the full patch notes for today's release here: [Patch notes link], and see our current known issues list here: [Known issues link]."

That is only the closing paragraph. Earlier in the same post the known-issues page, the bug database and the reporting instructions are all linked correctly, so nothing is truly unreachable — but search that post for the patch notes and you hit a dead reference. The working destinations are the ones on the 1.1 post and the known-issues page above.

How to report a bug so it actually gets fixed

Everything goes through THQ Nordic's Redmine instance, not the Steam forums. New tickets go to the Way of the Hunter 2 community project: bugreporting.thqnordic.com

Field What to give them
Platform Steam, or the console you are actually on
Reproducible Unknown / sometimes / always
Seriousness Minor / major / crash
Where Which map or menu
Headline One sentence
Description What you were doing right before it happened
Game version Bottom-right corner of the screen
Evidence Screenshot or video where possible
Save file Zipped Saved folder, PC only
dxdiag PC only, for performance, graphics or crash reports

To grab the save folder: press Windows key + R, paste %LocalAppData%\WOTH2\Saved, right-click it and choose Send to > Compressed (Zipped) folder. For dxdiag: Windows key + R, type dxdiag, run it, then Save all information. Video capture is Windows key + Alt + R; screenshots are Windows key + Print Screen.

Do not sign in with Xbox Live to file a report

The developer has confirmed that logging into the bug database with an Xbox Live account can trigger a site error. Until that is resolved, use a different platform account and put the platform you are actually playing on in the ticket title.

Official source: How to report a bug — official Steam thread

The Steam forums have their own split, set out in the pinned tech support subforum and bug reporting thread: hardware trouble and crash hunting go to the Tech Support & Bugs subforum, everything else to General, and bug posts left in General get moved after an hour. Talking about a bug there does not replace a ticket — the save file and dxdiag are what let the team reproduce it.

When to expect the next patch

Nine Rocks has committed to a faster cadence: "In the first weeks after release there will have increased frequency of patches." No date for 1.2 is published. Version numbers are a raw build counter, 212045 at launch and 212672 for 1.1, so the number in the bottom-right corner of your screen tells you whether you are actually on the patch this page describes.

FAQ

Does Update 1.1 add crossplay or more than two-player co-op? No. Its notes contain no networking or session-scope additions beyond the two client-side bugs above. Crossplay is not in version 1.0 and the developer still describes it as under study — see does the game have crossplay and how multiplayer works.

Can the weather change be made to happen faster than 48 in-game hours? Nothing published says so. The patch notes state 48 in-game hours and list no override. Sleeping skips the day-night cycle, but 1.0's fix there was about the forecast refreshing correctly, not about accelerating a queued change.

Is a deadzone of 12 enough to stop camera drift? It is a starting point, not a guarantee. The patch notes tell players who still drift to raise it further.

Should I file a report for something already on the known-issues list? No. The pinned Steam thread is explicit that known issues are already with QA and dev and need no report. Add your experience to the existing thread instead.

Do the wrong ammo stats change how the gun actually shoots? The listed values are recoil and accuracy readouts in the Shop and Storage. Whether the underlying simulation uses wrong numbers is not stated by the developer.
